Firebugs

Firework displays are in short supply around our town. Big city, yet barely do they do anything for fireworks. I mean we have a population of 300,000. You think someone, somewhere would consider it. Meh. Being that it was the May long weekend here in Canada, one of the few weekends we can blow things up to our hearts content LEGALLY, we were sure to take advantage. And blow up things we did.

I am happy to say my husbands eyebrows are still in tact.

Mothers Day Madness

Busy weekend...blah blah blah..busy....nice weather...blah blah

It seems as the nice weather continues, my ability to blog is diminished. I see these various blogs, moms like I and I wonder how on earth they find the time to post daily. Well, I can promise you this will never be a daily blog, just a whenever blog. Whenever I feel like it blog...that's TFB.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So now that's been said, Happy Belated Mothers Day to all the moms who visit my little spot on the web. I do hope you spent it relaxing with the ones that matter most.
For myself, it was a pretty busy weekend, in and out and running here and there. It seems I suffer from a disease, the "I can never can seem to pick up everything the first time at the grocery store no matter how big my list is" disease. Nothing frustrates me more than getting home from braving the friggin store on a Saturday and forgetting something vital for dinner. IRK! It doesn't help that the closest grocery store is like 100 football fields long. I swear it is. At least is feels that way when trying to run in for something quick. Feel like I need football gear just to plow thru the mass of people to get where I need to go. IRK!
My mom came for the weekend, so it was spent visiting and preparing for a nice mothers day with her. We all went to breakie and because we live in a sucky town, we had to be at the restaurant by 8am in order to get a table, in order to eat before the second coming. No, its not just that busy just because its mothers day, its like that EVERY weekend. When you have three kids, the last thing you want to do is spend 45 minutes in line for breakfast. I mean not many 6 and 4 year olds can stand patiently for 5 minutes let alone 45. It ends up with a waitress or two being tripped and few dozen or so pissed off patrons. It is a rare treat to go.
The boy and presented me with a little plaster of paris butterfly brooch that he made at school. Its something. He was so proud to see me wearing it all day. One of those little treasures that will be kept and tucked away.
I also received this:
My very own Easter Island Head. I love it!!!!!
It only weighs 150 lbs and I've only made him move it twice...for now.
Fugedaboutit
This pic makes me smile the kinda smile that could seriously harm my pretty little face. It warms the cockles of my soul. No, not because I am in any way a Yankees fan, or any type of baseball fan for that matter. Truth is, I can't stand baseball. ***THUD*** those were my husbands dreams of us touring every ball park in North America falling dead to the ground.
Nope. These little babies are my ticket to my absolute favorite place on earth. The city that never sleeps! The Big Apple. Yeah, I am taking about New York City. Can I get a whoot whoot!
Sorry, I get carried away when I jabber about this trip. You see, I am so excited I can barely stand myself. We are going on June 6th, which just happens to be our 9th wedding anniversary and we're staying right in the heart of the city. 9 blocks to Times Square! It doesn't get any better than that baby!!!
The best part? We are going kid free. Not even I am brave enough to travel with three children just yet. Grandparents will be staying at our house with the kids. Can I get a....enough Micki enough. What a glorious 4 days it will be. For us, not so sure about the Grandparents. ha!
So my fellow Bloggers, if any of you happen to be from there, have been there, or just have an unnatural love of New York like I, please share your favorite things to do and see while in New York. Your must visits. An I am not talking about visiting the Today Show. Please share either via comments or email. Help a girl out?
Tea for two..or three...or more...
The girl has known since January that she was having a tea party to celebrate turning 4 in style. She gets her mind on something, there is no changing it. For the past few weeks, I have been scouring friends, family and second hand stores in search of all the elements to throw such a party. It was weeks of planning all for a two hour party that came and went so quick!! A BIG Thank you goes out to Miss B, who help set up and host. Fun was had by all, kids and adults alike.
Things I learned this past weekend:
  • Even three and four years old will DEMAND a new dress to wear to a party. It does start young.
  • Someones little girl sounds like Eorye, even when she is happy.
  • That same little girl, really REALLY loves sugar cubes.
  • Miss B is GREAT at hosting a tea party.
  • Miss is very very patient when making little itty bitty sandwiches.
  • Little boys can survive tea parties.
  • All little girls (and boy) are adorable when they come for tea!
  • You can pull off TWO parties in one weekend.
  • My little girl is a great hostess.
  • I would do it all over again, just give me a few weeks to recoup.
My Pudge Turns One Today!!!
So yesterday, my girl turns four and today, this day, my baby turns one. There's a whole lot of reflection going around these days. Your seeing the softer side of Too Friggin Busy. (Back to our regularly scheduled programming soon....I promise)
I don't write these little mushy stories of reflection ever year on their birthdays. I think it has something to do with the fact that we are finished for good with the whole baby making thing. There is no going back. We are officially done.
I think knowing for sure, that there will never be another little baby around these parts, makes me cherish and squish the ever loving goo out of my pudge.
I look at him, his big beautiful, full of the devil eyes, and I feel blessed to have him in our lives. He's busy, he's cranky, he's busy, he's cuddly, he's busy and he's lovable. Did I mention busy? He keeps us on our toes and has tested our baby proofing skills like no child on earth before. However, since he lets me maul him on a consistent basis, and just for that alone, all is forgiven.
His first year flew by. It's kinda sad looking back, how fast it all went. But then I remember ALL those sleepless nights, and suddenly I am okay. ha! He's a dickens. It will be fun to see what trouble he gets himself into in the next while.
Now if only, we can get the kid to walk.....and to grow that other front tooth.....
Happy Birthday my little Pudge!!
You beautiful little boy.
Happy Birthday Baby Girl.
Another day of reflection. My girl, my little goose, my funny girl turned four today. She is a blond, blue eyed, petite, lively little thing with flare for the dramatics.
You hear the saying Daddy's girl and often is it true. But unfortunate for my husband, that is not yet the case here. He dotes on her and sometimes he gives in a little too easy, but he has yet to steal her heart.
For you see, this little girls heart belongs to Mommy. She is a mommy's girl. Something rare, something special, and something I will cherish for as long as she allows it to be.
I know one day, she will be Daddy's girl......but I will always remember when she was just mine.
Happy Birthday Goosie!!!
A mother's treasure is her daughter.
Easter Egg Snow Hunt, a new tradition.
Mother Nature...let me down....again. She seems to have a habit of that EVERY time we plan an outdoor event. She's got it in for me.
I had visions of little girls bouncing around the yard in their frilly easter dresses, carrying pastel coloured baskets, collecting eggs with little boys in their Easter best, tyring to out do the girls. Come on, anything for a great photo op!!! Instead, Mother Nature dropped the temperatures and threw some snow at us for good measure. She hates me.
Blasted Mother Nature. Maybe next year, she'll hear my pleas.
Ultimate Blog Party Continues....
Welcome to our little Blog Party!!
The Dancing has started...lol
So I should probably write a little get to know me blurb for all the new faces popping in from the Blog Party. Here goes nothing. My name is Micki and I am a SAHM to three incredibly cute, witty and BUSY kids.
I used to work full time out of my home as an administrative assistant for a large local insurance company. After baby#2, we crunched the numbers, saw it was possible and I made the leap to a SAHM. Some days are easy, some are not, but I wouldn't have it any other way. My kids make me laugh daily and my blog gives me a place to record those silly moments. I don't publish everything I write. Somethings are just for them. There will be so many fun memories to share when they are older.
I have a very creative soul and I keep my mind bright with many, many hobbies. Photography, scrap booking, sewing, reading, blogging, being creative with Paint Shop Pro to name a few. Not that I have much time for them these days. But I do have a sewing workshop and I'm working towards selling my own custom children's clothes. WITH ALL MY FREE TIME. ha. With three kids and all those hobbies, plus the daily grind of life, you now know why this blog is called Too Friggin Busy.
Oh, and did I mention I also have a home daycare? lol
You can wear your flannel pj's and bunny slippers (or fuzzy chickens as is the case here), grab a glass of wine, and mingle. Mingle ala comments of course!! . Oh, PRIZES!! Check out the link above for those details and more about this whole crazy blog party.
For those of you popping by from Mr Linky, my name is Micki and I am a SAHM to three great, but super busy kids. The boy, the girl and the baby. Check out the archives for lots of funny stories and of course pics. Leave a comment, so I know where you came from and I will pop by!!
And I was totally not lying about those fuzzy chickens....
Bad Habits......
Well, sorry, I've been...um..busy..
As for the race this past weekend, we had a blast! This will be a yearly event, that I am sure of. And, I must say, we girls rocked our GI Jane theme! That's right camo pants, black shirts, combat boots and black caps! I'm going to say it, we looked good!
We stalked into the bar and there, in all their heavenly glory were four nuns. But wait, one of these nuns had a beard and the other one, strangely, looked, like my husband. Yes, folks, they boys were dressed in full nun like ensembles, including head piece and giant wooden cross around neck. This was gonna be a fun day!!
There were 12 teams in total and we were the only all girl team. Despite that we came in 5th place, only 90 points behind the winning team. It was a close finish for the top 5 teams. We played hard, ran hard and drove hard (L, you could seriously be a contender for NASCAR!!!) We were a force to be reckoned with. We were head to head with guys at each event...(we checked! )
However, the rock climbing wall is what did us in. Our team member who did it, made amazing time, however, her boyfriend, on our boys team, is a rock climbing expert, and scaled the bloody wall in 20 seconds. Inside Joke: "See it does pay to be small, ya little leprechaun!!"
Things I learned this past weekend:
  • we girls do camo well
  • S can pull together an outfit and rework her schedule with 12 hours notice...impressive
  • Combat boots are difficult to run in
  • L drives like no one else I know
  • Sa can take mega awesome pictures from a moving car..
  • Sz knows London EXTREMELY well
  • Ball caps and braids makes Micki look under 25 according to Casino Security....I'll take it...Sz...will you ever forgive me?? lol
  • People at casino's don't like to part with one single token, even when its an even trade
  • Sz...you don't want to piss her off...she's got a helluva punch.
  • Don't buy Swedish berries from Raj
  • I suck at deal or no deal
  • L is very very brave...much kudos goes to her...a side we never knew was there! I was so proud!LOLOL!
  • Its amazing what your team mates will MAKE you do...lol
  • Next year, white bra...
  • Oysters should be left at the supermarket
  • My van can fit 8 people..not well...but we can fit...good thing Sc is so small...HAHA!
  • E&C still has good food
  • I am far too tired, read "old" for the late night bar scene
  • I have 15 days to pay a parking ticket.
  • We have great friends!
And now the pics:
Gi Jane #1 and #2.
Self Portrait!!!
The future Nascar Driver....who me?
That's right! She hit 712.
Self Portrait!!
My husband does nun well! LMAO!
The goofy nun and his...er..her..um..his date..
The thoughtful nun....good thing it wasn't the "other" finger.
Yah, there's just something wrong with the whole beer drinking nun, no?lol.
The "Bad Habits" win, and get to wear the "lovely" coveted green coats. Um, er, maybe it was a good thing they won after all...I don't do green..or pompoms for that matter.
Little Princess no more?
My little princess is apparently morphing into something else entirely.
During dinner, the girl, looks at me, big blue eyes sparkling and suddenly her mouth opens wide and out comes this thundering belch. The sound of which you would only expect to come from a much larger and mostly like male body. I stare at her, eyes wide from shock. I mean, how can a little girl be capable of such a sound??
We all know that she loves to curse like a sailor, see here, here and here. Now, thanks to the boy, the girl has learned to also belch like one.
I have this vision of the girl in her pink tutu, and dance slippers scratching her bum and letting one rip in dance class. Oh the horrah!!
"Look what I can do!!!"
I was walking into the playroom this afternoon, and this is what I found:
Well well well, don't we think we are a clever little boy, now that we can pull ourselves to standing.
Babyproofing takes on a whole new level.
Before and After
Well its been a crazy busy week. Trading Spaces lies. No one can get a room done in 48 hours. Their smoking crack. There's probably a team of 100 behind the scenes doing all the work. Meh.
There is still a few small things to do, that is if you consider painting ALL the trim and doors a small task. Hang a few more shelves and we're done. The girl is very happy. Its her princess room now. Very much a room fit for our little diva.
As promised, here are the pics. First, the colour was much MUCH MUCH uglier in person. My camera makes it look more aqua blue, but it was a deep disgusting aqua green. A really vile colour. I just have to say again, what was this woman thinking? Who paints their ceiling like this on purpose?? WHO DOES THAT????
I should have a contest. Betchya mine ceiling is uglier than yours!!!
This just hurts my eyes.
Wow, that felt good.
Viola!! It doesn't get any more girly girl than this.
I am going to paint a quote above the closet. Haven't decided exactly which one. Any suggestions?
Also, a big huge THANK-YOU goes out to my friend S.,who took pity on me and came over and helped with the painting. Yah, um sorry about the paint splatters. Ceiling paint really is that drippy!! But hey, the closet looks great!
We ended the evening with popcorn and a movie (that she brought, how cool is she!!) and complaining about our sore body parts.
So S, when are we painting your daughter's room? Or are you up for painting the other 10 rooms of mine?? Muahahahahaahahah!!!
